ARROYO VAQUERO BEACH

Arroyo Vaquero (Estepona) – Deep and very technical beach

A beach with good depth close to the shore, presence of rocky areas, and a freshwater outflow, making it a very interesting spot for gilt-head bream, sargo, and sea bass, with the possibility of catching very large specimens when conditions align.

It works especially well with medium to strong tides, taking advantage of moments of greater water movement near the mouth and in transitions between sand and rock, where fish confidently come to feed. When the sea is very calm, it can be harder to activate the fish, so it benefits from some movement and stirred water.

The most productive winds are usually from the east and southeast, which order the sea without excessive violence, although with moderate westerly winds, it can also yield good results if the location and fishing moment are adjusted correctly according to the target species.

Regarding baits, hard and natural baits clearly stand out in this scenario: cuttlefish, octopus, crab, razor clam, and mantis shrimp, supported by worms when the fish are more wary or activity is lower.

It is a beach that rewards reading the environment and precision, where good positioning and understanding the scenario make a much bigger difference than casting far.


GUADALMINA BEACH

Guadalmina (Marbella) – Large rocky area with sandy clearings

A beach characterized by a huge rocky area with multiple sandy clearings, making it a very complete and highly productive scenario for all kinds of species, especially gilt-head bream, sargo, sea bass, white seabream, and other large fish when the right conditions are met.

It works especially well fishing right on the edge between rock and sand, as fish use these natural corridors to feed safely. Sandy clearings within the rocky area are key points, and it's better to focus on them than to seek long casting distances. This scenario performs best with medium tides, where the water covers the rocks well without excessive drag.

With very strong tides, the water movement can be too powerful and hinder bait presentation, so it's important to adjust leads and location. It benefits from moving water and waves that stir up food.

The most favorable winds are usually from the east and southeast, which order the sea and allow for controlled fishing, although with moderate westerly winds, it can also provide very good days if shelter is sought within the rocky area itself.

Regarding baits, hard and resistant baits clearly stand out in this type of scenario: crab, cuttlefish, octopus, mantis shrimp, and razor clam, with good presentation being key to avoiding snags and maximizing bites.

It's a beach where reading the bottom and positioning the cast are everything.
